Why did you apply to Capgemini?

When looking to apply for graduate programme my preference was to work for a well known company that would develop my skills and invest in my potential. I knew Capgemini was a highly respected company located all over the world and, because they had business based roles, I thought I would apply. After attending the assessment centre and hearing Capgmeini’s aims to become bigger and better at what they do and achieving this through their employees, I knew it was for the place for me.

What is your favourite aspect about Capgemini?

The culture at Capgemini is superb! It is all about the employees. You are actively encouraged to be involved with charity work, which can come as a refreshing break from the day job and there are lots of sports teams which you can join (I play for my departments football team). Capgemini employees have access to a portal dedicated to learning and development, which you can access anywhere and at any time to undertake training courses. There is a huge variety of training available so you can develop your skills and knowledge which is important to me.

Why would you recommend Capgemini as a graduate employer?

Capgemini values its graduates really highly. From day one was I was involved with project work and actively contributing. I had to present and explain financial data to senior management within the first few weeks of starting; it was empowering to be given so much responsibility straight away. You are expected and encouraged to contribute and ask questions to develop your understanding, which is essential for a graduate’s development because there is always something new to learn. My colleagues are more than willing to help, explain and provide support to graduates.

What is the best thing you have learned during your time at Capgemini?

Collaboration is really important at Capgemini. Being a very competitive person I have always been suspicious of the term collaboration and thought it was just management terminology rarely practised. However, Capgemini has taught me that because the overall goal is to deliver a better solution to the client, if another Capgemini team or third party can aid us in the delivery of a better solution, then we will utilise those skills for the benefit of the client and overall delivery. By working with others you can achieve more than by yourself!

What is the best part about your graduate scheme?

Working on the Aspire account, you get the opportunity to witness every part of Capgemini in operation. Consequently, you get a huge breadth of experiences and opportunities in different areas of the business so you can ascertain your likes and dislikes. There are also numerous training programmes and interventions which make up the programme and we are currently raising money for the Princes Trust which is proving to be a great experience. All graduates have excellent camaraderie and are probably the best fed across Capgemini, whether it be eating Samosas for charity or colleagues bringing in cakes to bolster teamwork!
