Scheme Aspire

I found out about the Capgemini graduate scheme through a friend. There were a number of things about the scheme that immediately stood out for me, such as the organisation’s global reach and its focus on diversity and work-life balance. After a pleasant and highly informative assessment day, I was convinced that Capgemini was for me.

Since joining, I have been involved in a variety of challenging projects. For my first engagement, I helped run events for the Telford Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE). The purpose of ASE is to bring project stakeholders together in an environment where they can jointly develop solutions that increase productivity in Aspire. The amount of planning that goes into these events is unbelievable. But the outcomes are unbelievable too. Solutions that would usually take months to come up with can be found in just a couple of days.

One of the things I’ve most enjoyed working on so far has been a year-long project to raise £20,000 for The Prince’s Trust. It’s meant spending each Friday afternoon with other graduates, working together to come up with lots of fund-raising ideas and then putting those ideas into action. It’s provided me with excellent experience, as well as being a hugely satisfying project to be involved in.

The support provided at Capgemini is phenomenal. From the day I started, I was assigned a mentor (an experienced colleague who you can approach with any concerns you have), a buddy (a previous graduate), a reviewer (someone who reviews your performance throughout the year) and my line manager. I’ve also had support from the programme manager, the graduate sponsor, colleagues and even members of the senior leadership team.
