Aspire Graduate Programme Roles Overview

As part of the Capgemini Aspire Academy you will have the opportunity to be part of a structured training programme that offers a wide variety of opportunities on a number of extremely complex and high profile projects.

Across all roles you will develop and apply a wide range of skills such as problem solving, collaborative team working and critical reasoning through various training and development courses. All of which is designed to widen your portfolio of skills and to enable you to add real value to the organisation. 

The roles are all based in Telford apart from the Live Services - Application Management role, which is based in Worthing.

Specialised Testing

The Testing Practice involves both the application of testing and quality assurance activities.  You will be actively involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from Requirements to User Acceptance Testing and participate in an intensive Testing Academy Programme, learning the skills to be an effective Testing Practitioner. 

You will develop core skills such as problem solving, collaborative team working and critical reasoning, and by rotating you will gain experience in different systems, technologies and test phases equipping you to understand how to apply industry best practice.

The role provides the opportunity for continual learning and development across the Software Development Lifecycle which is supported through Industry recognised certification such as ISTQB.

Knowledge Management

Working within Knowledge Management Portal Support you will be working on a range of enhancement projects and arranging training and consultation as required by the various teams within Aspire.

You will have the opportunity to get involved in some of the most interesting parts of portal support. You will be part of implementing new team sites supporting the Portals within Aspire and using your innovation to tackle customer requirements.
You will have the opportunity to learn about SharePoint SPS2003 and MOSS2007.

You will be given the appropriate training by experienced portal analysts in order to achieve your goals.
 

Specialised Software Engineering - Java and SAP

The Software Engineering Practice is an integral part of the Software Engineering lifecycle, providing both the Design and Development of quality applications.  It is an expansive role with a wide variety of opportunities to rotate and later specialise in different technologies and development roles. Initially, exposure will be within one of 2 key technology areas; SAP and Java/Aqualogic, with opportunities to learn about business processes as well as technical skills

Essentially by joining the Software Engineering Practitioner Stream you will develop and apply core skills such as problem solving, collaborative team working and critical reasoning as well as having an opportunity to gain industry recognised technical accreditations. This area includes active involvement in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from Requirements to the implementation of a Live Solution.
 

Live Services 

Aspire Live Services (LS) is the area responsible for the support of HMRC.’s IT systems. A role in LS will give you exposure to a wide range of technologies across some of the most complex, interesting, and high profile IT Systems in Europe. You will also be given the opportunity to rotate onto these different systems, different technologies and different stages in the technical lifecycle.

Applications Management is focussed on the Live support of HMRC.’s business applications. A role in Applications Management entails planning, coding, testing and monitoring of IT systems within an industry standard, ITIL-based framework. You will gain experience of the various components of Application Delivery across different systems and technologies, including web based systems and mobile technologies. You will gain an understanding of how the HMRC business operates as well as having regular interaction with our HMRC client. For anyone interested in developing a technical career, Applications Management offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to multiple technologies. Technical Governance Manager. - Roles now filled for 2010 The role in Technical Governance will provide a good overview of the whole Aspire contract and provide a good springboard to a number of different potential career routes within the organisation.  Graduates will gain exposure to a wide range of Aspire functions, services and people, including senior staff within Live Services, Solution Delivery. You will work across various architectures and technologies, analysing the potential issues that may impact the provision of a supportable live service.

For anyone who is interested in developing a technical career, Live Services represents an ideal place to work. 

Methods and Tools  - Roles now filled for 2010

The Methods and Tools team are an operational team that consult with a wide variety of  projects to advise and implement  methods and tools on projects.  You will work with a variety of people at an influential level advising on a wide Technical area including Java, SAP, Microsoft  and Oracle.  Team Members will quickly become conversant in these technologies and other specialist areas.

You will have the opportunity to learn on the job, through various training methods and there is also potential to gain industry recognised accreditations.  Supplementary to learning technical skills you will also learn about cutting edge concepts including Agile Methodologies. You will develop many soft and business skills around actually making real change in a complex organisation

Requirements Analyst - Roles now filled for 2010

There is an opportunity to work and develop the skills of a Requirements Analyst in one of our business areas. This role will provide an opportunity to work closely with the client and key stakeholders to develop your analytical skills and to help shape client business and business solutions through collaboration and consultation. 

The role provides formal training with an opportunity to gain an industry recognised qualification, ISEB Business Analysis Qualification programme.

Non Technical Roles

Business Transformation - Roles have been filled for 2010

The Business Transformation team delivers business transformation expertise across the Aspire project. 

As an Associate Consultant you will gain a unique opportunity to work with experienced business transformation consultants on a range of projects which will typically be focussed on transforming Aspire or on occasion link directly to our external client, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. 

You will learn not only the theory and tool kits to implement sustainable change, but also how to put these into practise in a pressured and ever changing IT environment.  Although challenging and hard work, the two year programme will provide you with a firm foundation for an exciting career path within Capgemini. 

 Project Management Office Practice - Roles have been filled for 2010

The PMO Practice plays an integral role throughout the lifecycle of any project for the provision of management information to both the Project Management and Programme Management communities.  

As a PMO practitioner in Aspire you have the opportunity to be part of one of a number of extremely complex and high profile projects.  You will receive intensive training to learn the skills required to be fully effective in the role. The PMO practice provides the opportunity for continual learning and development across the project lifecycle which is supported through industry recognised certification.  

It is an expansive role with a wide variety of opportunities to rotate and later progress your career and specialise in different levels within the PMO (PMO Team Leader/PMO manager) and, over the longer term, provides a pathway into Project Management
